ParkMyAWS Is Ready for Beta
ParkMyAWS is ready.
The scheduling works. EC2 and RDS instances stop overnight and start again in the morning. The savings dashboard shows what you’re saving against your normal AWS bill. IAM AssumeRole means no credentials are ever stored on my side.
The product part is done.
Now comes the scary bit
Putting it in front of people. Finding out whether anyone cares. Watching the first real user connect their AWS account and hoping nothing breaks.
Building is the comfortable half. I control the code, the schedule and the scope. Launching hands most of that control to other people. Will anyone sign up? Will the onboarding make sense to someone who hasn’t been staring at it for two months? Will the savings show up on their bill?
I don’t know yet, and that’s the reason to open it up rather than keep polishing.
Opening it up
I’m opening it for beta this week. If you manage AWS dev or staging environments and want to try it, I’d like the feedback, good or bad.
The first version won’t be perfect. That’s why I want beta users now, before bad decisions get buried under more code.
